(The Star) AirAsia starts new route to Hua Hin

PETALING JAYA: AirAsia opens its seventh route to Thailand following its inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur to the stylish coastal town of Hua Hin.

AirAsia Malaysia commercial head Spencer Lee was on hand to send off the two-hour flight which departed from klia2 at 10am with a 93% passenger load yesterday.

The plane was welcomed with water cannons to mark the occasion as it landed at Hua Hin Airport.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to introduced Hua Hin to our guests and importantly, we are excited to introduce Hua Hin to its first direct international route to Kuala Lum­pur,” he said in a statement.

Guests were also welcomed by Thailand’s deputy transport minister Pairin Chuchotethavorn, Hua Hin mayor Nopporn Wuttikul and Thailand’s Department of Airport director-general Daroon Saeng­chai.

AirAsia will operate four direct flights per week to Hua Hin in addition to six other routes, including Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Haadyai, Chiang Mai and Pattaya.

AirAsia currently operates 165 weekly flights to Thailand from Kuala Lumpur.
