(The Star) Motorists can access highway from Jalan Cheras Perdana soon

Motorists from Jalan Cheras Perdana heading to Silk Highway will no longer need to use the inner service road of Jalan C180/1, as Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) traffic consultants have agreed to allow direct access.

Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng said they had received many complaints after a road upgrading project diverted the traffic to an inner service road in front of the shop lots before exiting to the highway.

“The diversion was said to cause inconvenience to motorists and add to the congestion. Based on the complaints, MPKj had reviewed the suggestion to make Jalan Cheras Perdana a seamless two-way road instead.

“After weighing the feasibility and safety aspects, the traffic consultant has agreed to direct access. Work to remove the divider and physical barrier, as well as painting new road markings will start immediately.

“The changes should be completed in two weeks,“ he said.

StarMetro reported on April 8 that the road upgrading project was part of the extra RM7mil spent by the developer to upgrade a 1.4km stretch to accommodate about 4,000 more vehicles that would pass by the area everyday after 196 new shop lots were built.
