(The Edge Financial Daily) ‘Langkawi SkyCab among world’s best cable car systems’

LANGKAWI: Langkawi SkyCab, a cable car system over 4km long linking Oriental Village in Teluk Burau and the 708m-high Gunung Mat Chinchang here, has been listed as among the world’s top 10 best cable car systems by an international travel website. has placed it alongside Loen Skylift in Norway, the CabriO Stanserhorn cable car (Switzerland) and Sugarloaf Mountain Bondinho (Brazil) as among the leading 10 sites that give travellers an incredible cable-car experience.

Its writer Jamie Moore described the ride on Langkawi SkyCab as “lifting travellers to dreamlike views of the legendary island”, which is located on the north-west coast of Malaysia and near the Thai border.

“At the top [is] a Malaysian landmark, the pedestrian SkyBridge, which swoops over the untouched jungle and ranks among the world’s longest curved suspension bridges.”

Langkawi SkyCab is one of only two cable car operations in Asia which have made it into the world’s top 10 list, apart from Ngong Ping 360 on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. — Bernama
