(The Star) Restaurant chain opens seventh branch in Malaysia

Grand Imperial Group marked another milestone in its expansion following the launch of the seventh branch in Malaysia.

Located at Sunway Velocity in Cheras, the group now has eight restaurants since its inception in 2008, including one at Grosvenor Hotel, Buckingham Palace Road in London.

Group managing director Rand Cheung said the group had planned for the new restaurant in Sunway Velocity since 2015.

“Due to our close partnership with Sunway and its strategic location, we invested RM8mil in opening our new branch.

“We see the potential here as the area does not have many restaurants that can cater for wedding receptions.

“Three weeks into its operations, we have received encouraging feedback from customers,” he said.

Occupying more than 1,580sq m, it is by far the largest single-storey restaurant under the group, second only to the two-storey branch at Sunway Pinnacle Annexe, Bandar Sunway, which has a build-up of over 1,860sq m.

The restaurant, which consists of modern architecture, offers similar menus like the other branches.

With a seating capacity of more than 800, the restaurant has 10 VIP rooms with noise insulation features, a la carte dining and a spacious ballroom for weddings.

Serviced by 30 chefs and sous chefs, it offers Asian-Western fusion cuisine.

“The taste of the food, the restaurant’s services and diners’ comfort are the three main things that our restaurant focuses on to ensure customers return and dine with us.

“The VIP rooms give diners adequate space and a quiet environment,” Cheung said.

During the launch, visitors were treated to an energetic lion dance performance followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Moving forward, Cheung revealed that the group was investing RM3mil in its new concept restaurant called Grand Imperial BBQ and Hotpot at Pavilion Elite, Kuala Lumpur.

“This is to test the waters and if the feedback is positive, there will be 20 more restaurants of the same concept in the pipeline,” he said, adding that for the next three years, the group planned to open 10 more food and beverage restaurants.
