(The Star) Business opportunity for bumiputra entrepreneurs

JOHOR BARU: Two projects will be launched by the Johor government for bumiputra entrepreneurs in the state.

Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the projects are the construction of 30 units of factories for small and medium industries and the building of Persada Annex.

The factory project, to built on a 1.86ha site in Kampung Pasir Gudang Baru here, involves an allocation of RM25mil from the Finance Ministry, channelled through SME Corporation.

Mohamed Khaled said the project would be developed by Johor Corporation (JCorp) under the 11th Malaysia Plan.

The Persada Annex project is scheduled for completion in the middle of next year and would provide more than 200 business spaces for bumiputra entrepreneurs.

“A groundbreaking ceremony for the Persada Annex project, costing RM43mil, would be held on May 16 beside the Johor International Convention Centre (Persada),” he said during a media conference on a programme for entrepreneurs.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani; State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Committee chairman Ismail Mohamed; Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation chairman Datuk Noraini Ahmad; SME Corporation Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Dr Hafsah Hashim and Johor Entrepreneur Development Centre executive director Hahashrin Hashim. — Bernama
